Frequently Asked Questions:
When Can I Start?
Right now, I do not have a waitlist. So if you reach out now, and we decide we are a good fit, I will be able to get you scheduled for your first appointment by the end of the week.
I know how frustrating it is to call around, just to get seen. That’s why I do everything I can to return initial phone calls/get you scheduled as soon as I can.
What Insurances Do You Accept?
Currently, the only insurance I accept is Maine Community Health Options. Depending on the insurance you have, I may be able to see you as an out of network provider. To learn more, read this article.
Why Do You Not Accept Many Insurances?
My goal is to as flexible as possible with scheduling and billing, in an effort to provide the best therapy possible to my clients. Unfortunately, insurances require a lot of information to be disclosed about you (like your diagnoses and the notes from our sessions), a lot of paperwork, and reduced flexibility in treatment (insurance companies will say what they want you to work on and how often we could meet…). In my experience, insurance has made it harder to provide top level care for the people I see. You are the expert in your life, so lets work on what you feel is most important.
I am hyper-focused on being flexible and available to current clients. In order to make sure I am providing the best quality psychotherapy to the people I see, the most privacy possible, and getting you the care you want, I made the choice to limit the insurances I accept. Not accepting insurances helps me focus on what matters, you and your therapeutic journey. My priority is you, not keeping insurance companies happy.
It has also been my experience that most insurance companies will allow you to see an out of network provider. This means you and I can meet, I will provide you with what is called a Superbill, and you bring it to the insurance company to be reimbersed. Again, doing it this way means you have more privacy.
What Are Your Specialties?
I am passionate about helping people live more authentic lives by overcoming past difficult experiences. While trauma therapy is my primary specialty, I also love working with people who are looking to be more assertive and effective communicators, those looking to overcome social anxiety, those looking to reframe anxious or negative thoughts, and those who are seeking to be more comfortable showing up as their true selves in life.
For all of these concerns, therapy will be empowering, sincere, and have a healthy dose of laughter. I utilize affirming and empowering language, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Quieting, and aspects of Internal Family Systems/parts work (to help with complete self-acceptance).
How Much Is Therapy Per Session?
My goal is to be as transparent as possible. My fee is $135 per hour. If you would like to work together but are worried about the cost, we could explore biweekly or even monthly therapy.
How Can I See You As An Out of Network Provider, So I can Still Use My Insurance Benefits?
First, you will need to reach out to your insurance company to check to see if they will allow you to see an out of network provider. Once you verify that, you will want to reach out to me so we can get you set up for your first appointment.
During that first appointment, I will talk to you about how you will get a superbill, the information that is on it, and how you can provide that to your insurance company to get reimbursed. For a superbill, you will still need to pay the fee for therapy up front.
Where Is Your Office Located?
My office is locate in Bangor. The address is 336 Mt Hope Avenue, Bangor Maine. For more thorough directions, click here.
Are You Offering Telehealth Or In Person Sessions?
I offer both telehealth and in person therapy! I make it a point to be flexible. There will be some days where the weather is treacherous. It is not uncommon that I do a mixture of both in person and telehealth with my clients over the course of their time with me.
